Press release – Bangla Tigers Retained and Direct signed four players for the upcoming season-6 in Abu dhabi T10 League

Bangla Tigers added Elvin Lewis, Colin Munro in the squad and also retained Mohammad Amir and Matheesha Pathirana from their previous squad for the upcoming season of the Abu Dhabi T10 Cricket League 2022-23 held in November 2022 as per tentative schedule.

Bangla Tigers management is delighted to bag such big wigs. Evin Lewis is the third batsman to score two Twenty20 International centuries! Lewis moved up the ranks playing age-group cricket for Trinidad & Tobago, and was part of a championship winning Under-19 side in 2008. He made his debut in March 2016 World T20 against Afghanistan in Nagpur as a replacement for injured Lendl Simmons. Lewis smashed a 48-ball hundred against India in his just second T20I and was adjudged as Man of the Match in narrow one-run wins. His second T20I hundred was also against India, where he hit a scintillating 125* at Sabina Park. Evin Lewis is one of the most enigmatic players in T20; his hitting ability is simply dazzling. He is the 7th most 6 hitter of T20 international.

Evin Lewis is truly a destructive force at the top of the order for Windies and will play the same role for Bangla Tigers in the upcoming season.
Colin Munro is highly reputed as one of New Zealand’s most reliable big hitters. His 14-ball half-century against Sri Lanka at Eden Park was the fastest by a New Zealand batsman in T20s. His naturally aggressive instinct and ability to take the game away from the opposition in a jiffy made him a tempting option for limited over cricket.
Colin Munro made his T20I debut against South Africa in December 2012. Since then, Munro was a regular feature of the New Zealand T20 side. The year 2017-18 has been the best phase of Munro’s career as he started to translate his potential into match-winning contributions. His form in the shortest format went up a notch as he became the 1st player to produce three T20I centuries. The fact that he cracked all the tons in a space of one year speaks volumes of his confidence and touch. He scored 1724 run in 62 innings with an incredible strike rate of 156.44 in T20I, which makes him one of the most lucrative choices in worldwide franchisee cricket league.
Colin Munro is definitely a smart pick of Bangla Tigers. His destructive stroke play will be an integral part of Bangla Tigers plans as they look forward to the upcoming ADT10 league.

Bangla Tigers also retained Mohammed Amir for the next season. Amir was spotted as a prospect by Wasim Akram in 2007 and he remarked that Amir was a much cleverer bowler than he was at the age of 18.
Amir began as the prodigious talent who as a 17-year-old turned heads when he took 55 wickets for National Bank of Pakistan in his debut season and impressed the selector with his whippy pace and swing. Consequently Amir was fast-tracked into Pakistan’s 2009 T20 World Cup side, where he made his debut for Pakistan in a T20I against England. He would go on to deliver a crucial burst in the final against Sri Lanka as Pakistan claimed the title. His pace and accuracy were key to the Pakistan team’s fortunes as they won the T20 World Cup in 2009.
The inswinging curlers, the slanting away swinger, the deadly Yorker are a few of the weapons in his repertoire that can befuddle any batting line up.
He possessed a solid technique with the bat lower down the order. Mohammad Amir holds an outstanding batting record of 2nd highest partnership in 10th Wicket with Saeed AJmal against New Zealand. He will act as the strike bowler of Bangla Tigers for the upcoming season.
Matheesha Pathirana is also known as Baby Malinga with a similar low release, accuracy with the Yorker, and a slower one made Mathesha an outstanding death bowler. After facing him, former Indian captain Dhoni said, his action is slightly difficult to pick and he has got that slower one also. So you have to watch him very carefully, which means when you spend those extra seconds watching the ball and he is bowling at a decent pace, it becomes quite difficult to consistently hit him. Pathirana might have similarities with Malinga but his action is more difficult. This youngster is really an asset for Bangla Tigers for the race to championship.
The 19-year-old Pathirana was part of the Sri Lanka squad at this year’s Under-19 World Cup in the West Indies, where he played four matches and picked up seven wickets at an average of 27.28 while returning an economy rate of 6.16. Pathirana took 2-24 on debut for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2022 including a wicket with his first ball. Before the debut, Pathirana impressed CSK officials in the net session by breaking the lens of a camera situated just behind the batter.
At senior level, Pathirana has only played one List ‘A’ match and Nine T20 matches, but he has been on Bangla Tigers radar for a while. The upcoming season will be the 2nd season with Bangla Tigers in ADT10 League.

Abu Dhabi T10 league is the first ever and only ICC approved ten-over cricket league organized by “T10 Sports Management” held in Abu Dhabi. By the direct patronization of Abu Dhabi Govt. ADT10 is already the most pompous event and now the tournament has become the third most-watched league in the world with a global audience of over 400 million. The upcoming season of the Abu Dhabi T10 Cricket League 2022-23 will be held in November 2022 as per tentative schedule.
