Paul Nixon – Batting and fielding coach of Bangla Tigers for Season – 5

Bangla Tigers have appointed cricket coach and former English international cricketer Paul Andrew Nixon as the new batting and fielding coach for the upcoming ADT10 League season 05. Paul Andrew Nixon has an outstanding career both as the coach and player as well.

After signing the contract with Paul Nixon, the owner of Bangla Tigers Franchisee Mr Mohammad Yasin Chowdhury said, Paul is a dynamic, dedicated, passionate and motivational coach, who will lead the cricketers with the fighting spirit and able to maintain positive approach in the dressing room during the match even at the crucial stage of the game.  He is the perfect coach for us for the race to the championship.

Nixon, twice the winning coach with Jamaica Tallawahs in the Caribbean Premier League, enjoyed a long and successful career as a player in domestic cricket. Known for his unique reverse sweep and behind the stumps banter, Paul Nixon has set certain milestones in his domestic career. He played in the County Championship winning sides of 1996 and 1998 and the T20 winning sides of 2004, 2006 and 2011.

Owing to his competitive nature and steady domestic performance, Paul was selected for England one-day side in Australia in 2006-07 at the age of 36 and did well enough to hold on to his place for the World Cup immediately afterward. He was an integral part of England’s world cup mission 2007; he concluded the tournament with an average of 38.6, having scored 193 runs along with 9 dismissals. He was the third highest run scorer of the England team in that world cup.

But Paul Nixon is one of a crop of wicket-keeping batsmen who came along at the wrong time for an international career. His path into the England team was blocked by Jack Russell and especially Alec Stewart as the team tried to find an all-rounder.

Nixon had a brief outing at international level when he was selected for the T20 international against Australia in Sydney on January 9, 2007. He made his ODI debut shortly after, against Australia at Melbourne on January 12, 2007.

Paul Nixon retired from all forms of cricket after the 2011 season and was appointed as the head coach for Leicestershire Foxes in October 2017.
